Rasa as defined in the shastras is that state
of artistic experience
created in the spectator by the artist.
The nine predominant rasas are well defined
in the technique and usage in the Natyashastra.
Nature, the supreme artist, is filled with rhythm, song, dance
and emotion that is experienced by us
but often not recognized consciously.
This presentation of Navarasa
brings forth various situations
where the rasas are evoked by the surrounding nature.
Spring evokes Shringar.
Running rivulets and streams - Hasya.
Killing of birds and chopping down trees evoke Karuna.
Vultures devouring the carcasses - Bibhatsa.
Eruption of volcanoes - Raudra.
Lonely dark night in a forest Bhaya.
The gait of an elephant Veera.
The continuous changing of time Adbhuta.
The still water amidst mountains Shanta.
