Kalidasa, universally acclaimed
as the greatest Sanskrit poet,
epitomizes in his literary works, what is best,
most enchanting and enlivening in Indian culture.
All his works are imbued with deep humanism,
universalism, and spiritual enlightenment.
Tatra Ramyastu Nayika
is a beautiful depiction
of the six Heroines from Kalidas's works.
They are Yakshi of Meghdutam, Sita
of Raghuvansh,
Malavika of Malavika-agnimitram,
Parvati of Kumar Sambhavam,
Urvashi of Vikram Urvashi
and Shankuntala of Abhigyan Shakuntalam,
set to Odissi dance style.
This poetry in dance
has been conceived and produced
by Shri Kanak Nanavaty of Adwait Foundation,
Ahmedabad
and has been choreographed by Debi Basu, Daksha
Mashruwala
and Anandi Ramchandran.
The duration of this production is
about 75 minutes. |
